Juba, South Sudan — September 4, 2026: Rizik Alphaza Hakim has resigned as head coach of Al Ghazala SC Wau, just two days before the club’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first-leg clash against Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars.
Hakim sent his resignation letter to Sports Hunter South Sudan on Friday, September 4, with the letter addressed to the President of Al Ghazala SC. He formally resigns from his position as head coach, effective from the date of the letter.
The experienced South Sudanese tactician was appointed by Al Ghazala on July 6, 2026, on a one-year contract with an option for an additional season. He joined the Wau-based club from El Merriekh SC Juba.
Hakim made an immediate impact, guiding Al Ghazala to South Sudan Super Cup glory with a 1-0 victory over El Merriekh SC Bentiu.
His team subsequently began the 2026/27 South Sudan Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Atlabara FC, before suffering a 3-1 defeat to Jamus SC in Week 2.
His resignation comes just 48 hours before Al Ghazala's continental assignment, with the Wau side scheduled to host Singida Black Stars at Juba National Stadium on September 6 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
In the resignation letter, Hakim thanked Al Ghazala's management, players and technical staff for their trust, support and cooperation during his tenure.
He also expressed his willingness to assist with a smooth and professional transition.
Hakim did not disclose a reason for his resignation in the letter.
