JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN — Al Wasl FC UAE defensive midfielder Moses Achuil has been called up to the South Sudan U23 national team following an impressive performance for Jamus SC in Saturday evening’s friendly against the junior Bright Stars.

Achuil featured as a centre-back for Jamus during their 3–0 victory over the South Sudan U23 side at the Juba National Stadium.

The tall midfielder caught the attention with his defensive performance as the Buffaloes secured a convincing win, with George Rodriguez, Kramako Daouda and Henock Nday finding the net.

Achuil, who is part of the South Sudan U20 setup, recently returned to Juba from Tanzania after representing the country at the CECAFA U20 Championship, which also served as the region’s pathway towards the U20 AFCON qualifiers.

South Sudan’s U20 side exited the tournament at the group stage.

His latest call-up now gives Achuil an opportunity to join the U23 squad as they prepare for their upcoming U23 AFCON qualifying assignment against Djibouti.

The move comes just immediately after his impressive showing against the same U23 setup he has now been called up to join.

Sports Hunter South Sudan will provide further updates on Achuil and the South Sudan U23 team as preparations continue.
