JUBA — Al Ghazala SC have quietly left South Sudan for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, as they begin their journey towards a daunting CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round second leg.
The Wau-based club departed at around 2:00pm today, travelling by road aboard an Eco Bus after suffering a heavy 7–1 defeat to Singida Black Stars in the first leg at the Juba National Stadium.
With a six-goal deficit to overturn, Al Ghazala face a near-impossible task in Tanzania if they are to keep their continental campaign alive.
The South Sudan side will now shift their focus to recovery and preparation, knowing they must produce a vastly different performance in the return leg.
Singida Black Stars hold a commanding advantage after their dominant display in Juba, leaving Al Ghazala with a mountain to climb in Dar es Salaam.
The return leg will determine whether Al Ghazala can stage one of the competition’s biggest comebacks or see their CAF Confederation Cup journey come to an end.
